Loomis medals at Hudson Invite

Garrett Loomis earned medalist honors by six strokes over his nearest competitor and four Wildcats finished with scores of 90 or better on a wind-battered Troy Burne Golf Course as the Cats opened the season with a second place finish in the 12-team Division 1 portion of the Hudson Golf Invitational Monday, April 9.

Loomis fired a score of 76 to beat second place Danny Theilman of Tartan (Minn.) by six strokes to earn Division 1 medalist honors. Tartan won the Division 1 team title with a total score of 333 while River Falls was second with 343 and Woodbury took third with 350.

Holden Ohlsen boosted the Wildcats’ team score with a round of 87 while Mike Xiong and Jake Knotek each carded rounds of 90 and Blake Heiman finished at 94.

Unity, led by Evan Lundy’s score of 76, won the 10-team Division 2 title with a total score of 337.

The Wildcats return to action Monday, April 16, at the Tartan Invitational before opening Big Rivers Conference play with a 9-hole mini-meet at Mill Run Golf Course in Eau Claire Tuesday, April 17. River Falls will host a BRC mini-meet Thursday, April 19, beginning at 3:45 p.m. at Clifton Hollow Golf Course.
