Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home after her courageous 4-year battle with cancer, on April 4.
Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home after her courageous 4-year battle with cancer, on April 4.
Born Oct. 8, 1964, in River Falls, Wis., to Bob and Eunice Vorwald, where she graduated from high school and married her high school sweet heart, Andy Cernohous, on Aug. 23, 1986. She attended Minnesota School of Business where she obtained an associate degree in fashion merchandising. She worked at a local clothing store for a few years before moving into banking where she worked for more than 20 years, most recently at the River Falls State Bank.
Barb was very active coaching girls basketball and teaching religious education and with many fundraisers such as daffodil sales for the American Cancer Society and the MS Walk. She loved all kinds of crafts and gave away many handmade items, and she loved shopping and traveling with family and friends. She always had a positive outlook on life and her optimism was contagious.
Preceded in death by her father; mother-in-law and father-in-law; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and a nephew.
She will be greatly missed by loving husband of 25 years, Andy Cernohous; son, Marc; daughter, Lauren; mother, Eunice Vorwald; siblings, Roberta (Dave) Hartert, Duane Vorwald, Patty (Scott) Schank, Ellen (Rod) Noe, Dan (Ann) Vorwald, and Jenny (Mark) Schoolman; brother and sisters-in-law, Denise (Norm) Maier, Diane (Mike) Dado, Pete (Bonnie) Cernohous, Dean (Carrie) Cernohous, Dave (Cherri) Cernohous, John (Vicki) Cernohous; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held April 10 with visitation from 2-5 p.m. and funeral at 5 p.m., all at St Bridget's Catholic Church in River Falls.
