For most of us, the past week’s weather has felt unnatural. Seems like some Brits agree.
Last week, the British Parliament heard from climate scientists that they believe the rapidly shrinking Arctic ice is a planetary emergency and that emergency action should be taken now to cool down the Arctic.
The data they presented shows that the most likely ice free Arctic date is 2015, and their concern is that a warmer Arctic sea will allow sea bed permafrost to melt and release huge volumes of methane which is a much worse greenhouse gas than car exhaust.
This could rapidly accelerate global warming and sea level rise.
The British scientists recommend building about 100 giant sea water spray towers to create clouds and cool the Arctic.
They see this as a last ditch option that must be in place before 2015.
