Letter: Once I ran against him, but now I can totally support him

Before the 2010 spring elections, David Peterson and I were colleagues on the St. Croix County Board, serving Districts 15 and 18 respectively.

Then, because of the ensuing downsizing of the county board and the attendant redistricting that followed, the two of us were required to run against one another for the newly created District 12 seat. I happened to be the winner of that contest.

In truth — and because of the deep respect I have always had for Dave — running against him at that time was one of the most difficult things I recall ever having to do.

Dave is a person of unquestionable integrity. He is honest, and, along with being knowledgeable regarding county issues, he is respectful of differing opinions. He consistently uses common sense and good judgment.

I assure you that if elected, he will serve you, his constituents, well.

It is therefore with the highest esteem for him that I encourage you to vote for Dave Peterson on Tuesday, April 3, to become the new St. Croix County District 15 Supervisor.
