With the lack of snow and no significant rain in the foreseeable future, the fire risk is high.
On Sunday, March 11, the River Falls firefighters saw a “dandy” of a grass fire according to Assistant Fire Chief Mike Moody. They also saw a much smaller one on Tuesday.
“With the extremely dry conditions, even your lawn, because it has yet to turn green, will burn quite easily,” said Moody.
He advices residents to use extreme caution when having a campfire or burning anything.
A burn ban may be put in place within the next few days. An announcement will be available on the Journal website if that happens.
