‘Budget repair vigil' happens at Veterans Park
A candlelight vigil takes place 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, in Veterans Park on Main Street in River Falls to commemorate the passage of Wisconsin Act 10, the “budget repair bill” that passed in March 2011 and prompted statewide demonstrations and rallies protesting its limits to nearly all collective bargaining for public-union employees.

The event is a vigil -- not a rally -- and specifically asks attendees: Please do not bring any signs.
A series of speakers will share their personal stories about how the bill has impacted them, their families and their communities.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a candle and a snack or dessert to share after the event.
Those attending the vigil are invited to socialize afterward at 208 S. Main St., where coffee, punch and water will be provided.
People with food to share afterward may drop it off at the office before attending the vigil.
