RF’s Claude wins state bars, all-around titles

River Falls junior Riley Claude won state championships on the uneven bars and in the all-around competition at the WIAA Division 2 State Individual Gymnastics Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids Friday night.
Claude and the rest of the Wildcats will compete for a WIAA Division 2 team title today.
Claude won the state title on the uneven bars with a score of 9.267. Sarah Duff of Mount Horeb was second with 9.067.
Claude also finished as state runner-up in the floor exercise with a second place score of 9.267. Haley Gowronski of Baraboo was first with 9.483.
Claude finished sixth in the vault with a score of 9.283, and added a score of 9.25 on the balance beam to win the all-around title with a total score of 37.067. Maggie Anderson of Whitefish Bay took second with 36.084.
Wildcat sophomore Karlie Place tied for 7th place in the vault in Friday night’s individual competition with a score of 9.267, while freshman Karin Sollom finished 13th on the uneven bars with an 8.433. Junior Paige Skorseth took 15th on the balance beam with a score of 8.417, and 22nd in the floor exercise with an 8.417.
