Even with the incumbents running unopposed in the spring election, all three have agreed to participate in a March 7 school board forum.
The 90-minute candidate forum will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall in the City Council chambers.
It will be sponsored by the local branch of the American Association of University Women.
“If you live in the district and you’re concerned about certain school issues, this is your chance to show up, ask questions and hear what these school board members have to say,” said local AAUW representative Barb Peterson.
The three board members expected to attend are: Barb Kolpin, Mike Miller and Alan Tuchtenhagen.
The format for the school forum is the same as the one held Feb. 27 for city council candidates.
Audience members can submit written questions any time during the 90-minute forum.
These will be turned in, sorted and read aloud to the candidates by moderator Rita Kozak. Each candidate will be able to respond.
The spring election is Tuesday, April 3. School board candidates serve three-year terms.
City residents with cable TV have many opportunities to watch the school board candidate forum.
Dawn Wills, city communications coordinator, said the forum won’t be telecast live but will be videotaped and shown often on Channel 16 until the April 3 election.
Wills said people can also watch the school board and City Council forums on the Internet whenever they wish. Both forums will be streamed on this RFCTV's website: www.rfctv.org.
