On the Job: Valerie Sowa
Valerie Sowa has been selected for the interim director position at Heartland Montessori School. Sowa has been involved in Montessori education for the past 11 years as a board member serving two separate terms at the school and as a parent; both her children attended Heartland Montessori School as well as graduating junior high from Oak Hill Montessori School in Shoreview, Minn.
Valerie Sowa has been selected for the interim director position at Heartland Montessori School. Sowa has been involved in Montessori education for the past 11 years as a board member serving two separate terms at the school and as a parent; both her children attended Heartland Montessori School as well as graduating junior high from Oak Hill Montessori School in Shoreview, Minn.
As interim director, Sowa will oversee operations at the school and summer program, as well as coordinate marketing, fundraising and enrollment. Sowa has a BS in Parks & Recreation, with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation and an additional major in Psychology.
She is most well known in the community for her previous 17-year history with her own direct sales business, Discovery Toys.
Sowa and her husband, Hendryk, currently reside in River Falls with their two children. She enjoys running, cross-country skiing, gardening and cooking.
