Two people were arrested and jailed Monday, Feb. 6, at Cudd’s trailer court, 1450 S. Wasson Lane, for allegedly making a deal to sell methamphetamine. Both were charged by the Pierce County district attorney with delivery of meth felonies. The two are a pregnant 28-year-old city of River Falls woman and a 27-year-old city of River Falls man wanted for a felony drug possession warrant in Isanti County, Minn.

Meth is a highly addictive stimulant affecting the nervous system.

It increases wakefulness and physical activity, but also blood pressure and produces rapid and irregular heartbeat. Long-term use can lead to mood disturbances, violent behavior, anxiety, confusion, insomnia and severe dental problems.

Meth, sometimes called speed, ice, chalk or crystal glass, is taken orally or snorted or injected. There is also a rock “crystal” that’s heated and smoked.

River Falls police were assisted with the Feb. 6 “controlled buy” of meth by a St. Croix County Sheriff’s investigator who is also a member of the St. Croix Valley Drug Task Force. The amount of meth was relatively small at about a ½ gram.

The deal took place before noon at a three-bedroom trailer home on the north end of the court.

An officer was monitoring the staged deal from one of the bedrooms.

According to the criminal complaint, when the officer stepped out into the living room and announced, “Police,” the 28-year-old woman who was to be arrested mouthed, “You are dead” to the undercover meth buyer.

Law enforcement officers say they recovered $4,000 in cash, a BB gun and drug paraphernalia from the 27-year-old man’s parked car outside the trailer.

The complaint says the man got the money by cashing his wife’s retirement account check. She was at a nearby hospital having surgery.

The wife said she had recently lost her job in the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, in part, because of her husband’s criminal activity. She said he only had permission to cash her check.

A Pierce County Sheriff’s investigator also worked on this case.
