UWRF softball clinics Feb. 4-5
The UW-River Falls softball team will host a pair of clinics Feb. 4-5, at the Knowles Recreation Center on campus.
The UW-River Falls softball team will host a pair of clinics Feb. 4-5, at the Knowles Recreation Center on campus.
An Advanced Skills Clinic will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, and a Fundamental Skills Clinic will take place Sunday, Feb. 5.
The Advanced Skills Clinic is intended for experienced softball players to work on advanced skills. Players must be able to handle sharply hit grounders and high velocity throws.
Session I, advanced hitting, will be held from 9-11 a.m. Skills covered will include the mechanics of hitting, bunting and slap hitting.
Session II, advanced defense, will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and cover advanced mechanics of position-specific infield and outfield play.
Session III, advanced pitching, will take place from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. Participants must be able to throw a fastball and changeup consistently.
Sunday’s Fundamental Skills Clinic will begin with Session IV, fundamental hitting, from 9-10:30 a.m. Session V will be fundamental defense from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and Session VI is fundamental pitching from 1-2:30 p.m.
Cost for the Advanced Skills Clinic is $50 for one session, $90 for two sessions and $120 for all three sessions. For the Fundamental Skills Clinic, cost is $45 for one session, $85 for two and $115 for all three.
