Locals honored at MLK breakfast

The 5th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., commemorative breakfast was held on Monday at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in the fellowship hall.

The 5th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., commemorative breakfast was held on Monday at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in the fellowship hall.

Guests were treated to poems read by the student poetry contest winners.

Josh Baillargeon, Grade 5, read his Martin Luther King Poem; Riley Endries, grade 4, read her Unity poem; Mikaylah Whitebear, Grade 6, read her Life is Too Short poem; and Lana Rubinstein, Grade 9, read her Unity and Justice poem.

An essay written by River Falls High School freshman Gavin Erickson titled, “My Solution to Racism”, was also read.

Winners of the Emerging Legends Awards were announced. Winners include Augustine Pupungatoa and Anwar Abda.
