For the first time ever, Kilkarney Hills Golf Course in River Falls has opened for play in the month of January. Troy Hartman of River Falls jumped at the opportunity and hit his approach shot on the second hole from next to a snow bank while golfing with Hunter Bowman and Tanner Eggenberger Friday, Jan. 6.

There were patches on snow around the course but the ground was dry enough to allow golfers and carts. Kilkarney Hills owner Pat O’Malley said the course hosted around 75 golfers the day after Thanksgiving and 80 more New Year’s Eve and hopes to remain open until at least Tuesday, Jan. 10, weather permitting.
