At the Dec. 19 Town of River Falls board meeting the parks committee asked for reconsideration on the Anderson Park, W9978 792 St., budget.
Dennis Zielski, parks committee chairman, asked the board to allow $1,800 for the planting of native grasses and wildflowers at the park. During the Dec. 5 regular board meeting, Zielski was asked to re-present at a later date, with a clearer vision for the future.
He came to this meeting with a more concise vision for the future but was still denied his request. The board cited concerns over the requirement of burning in a residential area, the maintenance and the current economic climate.
Not all board members agreed with the outcome. Chairwoman Diana Smith felt the requirement that subdivisions leave a certain amount of land for parks was a promise that parks will be put in at some time.
The final vote was a split vote, 2-3, with the parks board leaving feeling disappointed and frustrated.
