Police arrest couple making date-rape drug

Newly-released records show that a suburban Milwaukee couple was making a date-rape drug at their home. A 38-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested after a police raid in West Allis last week.

An affidavit with a search warrant said the two were addicted to the drug GHB, which police found in an apartment a few blocks away. Officers got several tips about a clandestine drug lab at the couple's home. Investigators are not sure why the couple was taking GHB, but Deputy Police Chief Jerry Ponzi said there's a component of the drug that people use for body-building.

Police said the man was a bouncer at a strip club, and officers are trying to find out whether he sold the drug there. He's under parole supervision until 2013 for manufacturing designer drugs in 2002. And as a condition of his release, authorities said he was not supposed to be involved with illegal drugs in any manner.
