Community appreciates veterans

River Falls saluted its veterans Nov. 11 with a number of activities, including a program at Meyer Middle School, River Falls American Legion Honor Guard presentation at each of River Falls schools, and a free veterans’ lunch at the Legion Hall. U.S. Army Maj. Clint Ronnestrand spoke at Meyer Middle School and U.S. Marine Robert Cahalan spoke at the UW-River Falls commemoration.

River Falls saluted its veterans Nov. 11 with a number of activities, including a program at Meyer Middle School, River Falls American Legion Honor Guard presentation at each of River Falls schools, and a free veterans’ lunch at the Legion Hall. U.S. Army Maj. Clint Ronnestrand spoke at Meyer Middle School and U.S. Marine Robert Cahalan spoke at the UW-River Falls commemoration.

Other speakers included three middle schools students and UW-RF Chancellor Dean Van Galen. In speeches at both locations, orators referred to the famous quote by President John F. Kennedy: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
