The Falcon soccer team raised the money as part of the WIAC’s “Playing for a Cause” campaign in which each conference team hosted a match to create awareness and support for a certain cause of the teams’ choice. The Falcon players chose the fight against pancreatic cancer in support of Hagen’s mother, who was diagnosed with the disease during the preseason, and hosted the fundraiser at their Oct. 22 match against UW-Whitewater. Special purple jerseys worn by the Falcons during the match were auctioned off, and combined with donations from fans the team raised $1,119 to fight pancreatic cancer.
