Calling all chili cooks
Riverdazzle organizers summon all chili chefs to enter their creative concoctions in the 6th annual Chili Crawl scheduled for 1-5:30 p.m., Nov. 25, during the traditional River Dazzle Extravaganza celebration. The deadline for entering is Wednesday, Nov. 16.

McKay says besides bragging rights for a year, the chili cookoff winner gets a permanent plaque declaring them the people’s choice 2011 Chili Crawl Champion.
Entrants must prepare the chili in a commercially licensed kitchen. Taste testers, who are also the contest judges, get a two-ounce taste of chili.
McKay said an estimated 700-800 tasters came in 2010, with a choice of 19 different samples. River D-azzle organizers — the Chamber of Commerce and the downtown Business Improvement District (BID) board — provide the cups, spoons and promotion for the chili event.
