Meteorologist at WCCO Radio Mike Lynch will present a Star Watch program starting around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Freedom Park, 200 Monroe St. The public, ages 6+, is invited to attend, bring chairs and dress for outdoor weather.

There will be large reflecting telescopes avilable, including a giant 20” reflector, one of the biggest mobile telescopes in the upper Midwest for close up views of the planet Jupiter, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and other wonders in our skies.

You’ll get spectacular views of our more distant universe through a brand new state of the art astronomical camera-telescope system that will amaze you. You’ll get a great handout package (1 per family) with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts, websites, a telescope-buying guide, and more.

Constellations like The Big Bear, Cassiopeia the Queen, Cygnus the Swan and others will be viewed and information about each will be offered.

Mike Lynch is a meteorologist at WCCO Radio and has been teaching astronomy classes for over 39 years. He also writes a weekly stargazing column for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and many other newspapers across the U.S. This event is free and sponsored by Prescott Kiwanis.
