Young singers needed
New singers for the choir of The River City Chorale are now being accepted. The group is open to all students in fourth through seventh grades from throughout the St. Croix River Valley. The children’s choir will be under the direction of the chorale’s artistic staff of Andrew Haase and Jodell Krause.
Rehearsals will be held weekly on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St. in Hudson. The first rehearsal is Thursday, March 6. The youth choir will present a concert on Saturday, April 26, in collaboration with the Hudson High School Chamber Choir.
Interested singers are required to participate in vocal interviews on either Thursday, Feb. 27, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. or Saturday, March 1, from 9-11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. During the interview, students will be asked to sing easy scale patterns, sing a line of a familiar tune, echo sounds and rhythms as well as reading aloud. Prepared songs are not required for interviews.
There is a $100 dollar registration fee for students wishing to participate in this 10-week choir experience. All registration information and fees must be completed at the time of the child’s vocal interview.
Parents of interested singers are required to contact The River City Chorale to schedule their child’s interview.
