Woman remains critical after her vehicle collides with squad car
A woman from the town of Clifton, Lidia Pavitova, 28, was driving in St. Paul Monday, Jan. 30, about 4:40 p.m. when her car collided with a police squad car at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Ayd Mill Road.
Spokesman for the St. Paul Police Department Howie Padilla said the investigation into the crash is ongoing. He confirmed that when it occurred, Officer Jennifer Mink was traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue to assist at a traffic stop, and Pavitova had exited onto Ayd Mill Road to turn west onto Grand Avenue.
St. Paul medics transported both drivers to Regions Hospital. Pavitova remains there in critical condition.
Padilla said Mink was treated and released, "The officer sustained no serious injuries."
He said the information police have at this time indicates Mink had her sirens and lights going. He characterized the damage to both vehicles as "quite significant."
