Wisconsin cheese production up more than 3 percent in May
Wisconsin's continues to be more dominant as the nation's leading cheese-maker.
The Badger State's cheese production for May grew by 3.2 percent from the year, while No. 2 California kept slipping with a production decline of 2.6 percent.
Nationally, cheese production grew by 2.6 percent, 0.6 less than Wisconsin's increase.
Italian cheese had the biggest increase in the Badger State while American cheese saw the biggest growth nationally.
Idaho, New York and Minnesota round out the nation's Top 5 cheese-makers.
New York's output jumped a whopping 8.4 percent from the previous year.
