Westberg named to All-UMAC team
Lance Westberg of River Falls, a senior at Northwestern College in St. Paul, has earned honorable mention to the 2012-13 All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) men's basketball team.
Westberg had his best year as an Eagle in 2012-13, averaging 14.9 points per game with a 50.9 field goal percentage in league games, both marks that fall in the UMAC top 10. He averaged 21.75 points in his last four games and was named the UMAC Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16 after scoring 24 points in a win over Northland College and 27 in a victory over St. Scholastica.
Westberg, a two-time All-Big Rivers Conference selection with the Wildcats in 2008 and 2009, also won Northwestern's individual sportsmanship award this season. His parents are Blaine and Fay Westberg.
Northwestern won its 24th UMAC regular season championship in 2013, going 12-2 in league games to win its third conference title in four years. The Eagles also won the UMAC Tournament championship for the third straight year, giving Northwestern its third consecutive berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
