  • Artists’ Exhibition Reception: From 6-9 p.m. for Em Moelter, Sean Sauter and Kelsey Wall’s BFA projects at Gallery 101, UWRF campus. The exhibit and event are free and open to the public Nov. 10-17. For more information, contact the Art Department at 715-425-3266.

  • Evening of Jazz and more: Hosted by HOPE Lutheran Church featuring John Hamilton and Dave Peters will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at St. Bridget Parish, 211 E. Division St. There will be a silent auction, as well as appetizers, desserts & wine. Tickets are $20 and are available at Dish & Spoon Café, at the door, or by calling 715-425-9750.
  • Once Upon a Mattress: A River Falls Community Theatre and River Falls High School joint production, at 7 p.m. at RFHS. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for children 10 and under. They are available for purchase at the door or ahead of time at the Dish and the Spoon Café.

  • UWRF Men’s hockey game: At 7:05 p.m. versus Bethel at W.H. Hunt Arena on the UWRF campus.
  • American Idol winner performs: The Phillip Phillips concert will begin with an opening act at 8 p.m., followed by Phillips at 9 p.m. in the Knowles Center.   • Library lower level exhibit: “In the Neighborhood: The All-Community Art Show,” the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; Aristotle knew it and our area’s talented artists prove it. At the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union Street through Dec. 8.
  • Saturday:

    • "Lean In: Women and the Will to Lead"  discussion: The River Falls chapter of the American Association of University Women is sponsoring a panel discussion of "Lean In: Women and the Will to Lead" by Sheryl Sandberg at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the lower level Community Room, River Falls Public Library, 140 Union Street. Panelists include Connie Foster, who served in a variety of administrative roles at UW-River Falls including Interim Chancellor; Betty Wetherell-Gustafson, director-Account Management at West-Thomson Reuters; and Susan Lee, programmer analyst at Datacard Group. The panel will be moderated by Elaine Baumann, former River Falls High School principal. Free and open to the public.

    • Barn dance: Featuring the western Wisconsin old-time string band the Rush River Ramblers from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the gym of the River Falls Academy on West Maple Street. No previous dancing experience is required. An expert dance caller teaches steps to both newcomers and more seasoned dancers. Partners are optional and singles welcome. Children are encouraged to participate in the opening family dance segment from 7-8:30 p.m. The second half of the evening introduces somewhat more advanced dances. Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for 12 and under.     • Thanksgiving meal and pie auction: First Congregational United Church of Christ, 110 North Third St., will host a Thanksgiving meal and pie auction from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be turkey, stuffing, potatoes and all the trimmings. There will also be a Youth Pie and Dessert Silent Auction to help fund the spring Break Mission trip to Biloxi, Miss.     • Euchre tourney: St. Mary's - Big River Church, W10137 570th Ave., will host an Open Euchre Tournament Fundraiser at 1 p.m., in the fellowship hall. The cost is $10 per person, 80 hands are played, you play with the same partner for all 80 hands. You must be 18 years of age to play. Call 715-425-5736 for more information.
    • Violin recital: HeartStrings Studio fall violin concert will be held at 1 p.m., at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 S. Second St.

Bach, Martin Luther, Joseph Horovitz, and recent UWRF composer in residence, Gregory Fritze, at 7:30 p.m., in Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building at UWRF.     • Mobile Art Gallery exhibit: UW-River Falls senior David Wyrick will present his bachelor of fine arts degree exhibition through Nov. 17, inside a mobile art gallery located behind the Kleinpell Fine Arts building on campus. He will be displaying sculptures, paintings, and prints. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public from 8 a.m.to 4 p.m. For more information, contact the Art Department at 715-425-3266.
    • BFA degree exhibit: Em Moelter, Sean Sauter and Kelsey Wall will present their BFA Degree Exhibition in Gallery 101 at UW- River Falls through Nov. 17. Moelter will display her series of paper works exploring her illness and the feeling of abandonment with relationships. Sauter will display his portrait paintings rendered in different media such as watercolor, multi-layered stencils and freehand spray paint. Wall will display a collection of paintings on saw blades that express the disasters and pleasures that impact the environment and in return affect us. The art can be viewed during regular gallery hours Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. For more information, contact the Art Department at 715-425-3266.
