This week in River Falls:

Thursday

  • River Falls Community Dinner: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Bridget Church, 211 East Division St. The annual, non-denominational dinner will be buffet style with traditional Thanksgiving fare, including: Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, dressing, coleslaw, cranberries, rolls, butter, milk, coffee, pickles and pumpkin pie.

  • Thanksgiving dinner: River Falls Family Restaurant will serve a free Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28. The restaurant will be serving roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables.
  • Packers game: At 11:30 a.m. versus the Detroit Lions. Aired on FOX.
  • Falls Theatre: Catching Fire at 7 and 9:40 p.m. See a preview at www.fallstheatre.com.
  • Friday:

    • River Dazzle: Held from 1-7 p.m. Feature the 8th annual Chili Crawl from 1-5:30 p.m., at participating downtown River Falls businesses, photos ($4) with Santa and Mrs. Claus at The Mercantile, 176 N. Riverwalk (the alleyway entrance between West Maple Street and Veterans Park), from 1-4 p.m., reindeer, camels and llamas on display at Veterans Park, from 1-4 p.m., cookie decorating in the Best Western Campus Inn ballroom from 2-4 p.m., free hayrides around town from 2-6 p.m. Loading will take place in Heritage Park, “Wearable Art” fashion show inside Gallery 120, 120 N. Main St., starting at 5 p.m., River Dazzle parade starts at 6:30 p.m. and will travel down both sides of Main Street, starting at North Main and Pine streets, travels to Walnut Street, and then turns and heads back to Pine Street, and throughout River Dazzle local merchants will be selling warms beverages and holiday treats and there will also be strolling costumed carolers.     • Library lower level exhibit: “In the Neighborhood: The All-Community Art Show,” the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; Aristotle knew it and our area’s talented artists prove it. At the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union Street through Dec. 8.
    • UWRF Scholarship Art Sale: At Gallery 101, Kleinpell Fine Arts Center, through Wednesday, Dec. 11, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    • River Falls High School Fusion hockey: At 1 p.m. versus Hayward at Baldwin United Center.

    • Gobbler's Gallop 5K/1K Family Fun Run: Will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28. The race, which is open to walkers and runners of all abilities, will start and end at Nilssen's Foods parking lot on Main Street in Ellsworth. Cost is $20 per person, with a $50 family maximum. Proceeds will be used for St. Paul's UCC Youth Group 2014 Mission Trip.
