This week in River Falls:

Friday:

  • Tri-Angles picnic: The Tri-Angels picnic from 4-8 p.m. at Hoffman Park in River Falls. There will be a spaghetti and meatball dinner with pizza for race participants and the community. $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 10. All proceeds will go back to help build the universally accessible Tri-Angels Playground.

  • Community Bike Ride: Meet at 5:30 p.m. Veterans Park, downtown River Falls.
  • Music in the Park: At 7 p.m. in Veterans Park. Patchouli will perform.

  • Fighting Fish Game: At 7 p.m., versus the Elmwood Expos at First National Bank of River Falls Field.
  • Saturday:

    • Tri-Angels 5K Fun Run & 10K Race: At Hoffman Park, River Falls. Advance registration: 5K-$25 adults, $15 under 14. 10K - $30/adults, $15 under 14. Raising funds for playground in honor of Amara, Sophie and Cecilia Schaffhausen. Call 715-441-6175 or 715-523-9677 for more information.
    • Lower level opening reception: An opening reception is scheduled for the River Falls Public Library gallery’s newest exhibit from 1-3 p.m. The show titled, “Sheltering Nature,” offers works by a group of area artists whose goal is to help people understand their natural environment and its vulnerability. By creating beautiful artwork helping people get to know some of these places and their inhabitants, Project Art for Nature’s message has wide appeal.  The exhibit will be in the gallery through Saturday, Aug. 16. A free wildlife drawing class and a visit from the birds of the U of M Raptor Center will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2. The drawing class size is limited and registration is required.     • Music in the Park: At 7 p.m. in Veterans Park. Paul Doffing will perform.
    • Library lower level: Sheltering Nature: A Project Art for Nature Artists Collaborative Exhibit. The world that gives us spiritual, emotional, medicinal, and physical shelter now needs to be protected from us through Aug. 16 in the River Falls Public Library lower level.

    Sunday:

    • Patchouli performance: At 10:30 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Society of River Falls. Besides singing, Bruce and Julie of Patchouli have agreed to help Rev. Ted Tollefson with the reflections on "Love, Grace and Thanksgiving." After the service there will be free root beer floats and CD's for sale by Patchouli. For more information visit www.uusrf.org.
