Friday:

  • Holiday boutique: Volunteers in Partnership with River Falls Area Hospital will host a Holiday Boutique from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the hospital classrooms. There will be unique holiday gifts for all seasons, refreshments and music. Proceeds support hospital projects.

  • Falls Theatre: Catching Fire at 7 and 9:40 p.m. See a preview at www.fallstheatre.com.
  • UWRF holiday swing dance: The Radd Jazz Series event with the UW-River Falls Jazz Ensemble features guest vocalist Charmin Michelle at 7 p.m. in the Falcon’s Nest in the University Center. The evening begins with swing dance lessons at 7 p.m. guided by the UWRF Swing Dance Club with live music and dancing to begin at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone.   • Library lower level exhibit: “In the Neighborhood: The All-Community Art Show,” the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; Aristotle knew it and our area’s talented artists prove it. At the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union Street through Dec. 8.
  • UWRF Scholarship Art Sale: At Gallery 101, Kleinpell Fine Arts Center, through Wednesday, Dec. 11, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday:

    • Holiday boutique: Volunteers in Partnership with River Falls Area Hospital will host a Holiday Boutique from 7 a.m. to noon, in the hospital classrooms. There will be unique holiday gifts for all seasons, refreshments and music. Proceeds support hospital projects. 
    • Craft Fair: The St. Bridget School Holiday Happenings and Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the St. Bridget Parish School gym. Over 65 handmade craft displays. Admission is $1.
    • Jesus birthday party: Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 545 Apollo Road, will host its annual Birthday Party for Jesus from 9:30-11 a.m. This event is geared toward preschool-age through third grade children and their families. The event will feature a skit for the children, a free continental breakfast for all, and a hand crafted ornament for each child to take home. Call 715-425-6598 to RSVP.
    • Holiday bake sale: From 1-3 p.m., at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 South Second St. The sale will feature Scandinavian items and other goodies, plus a complimentary holiday tea.

    • Brunch with Santa: At the Moose Lodge, 620 N. Clark St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will include pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, potatoes, coffee, juice and milk. The public is welcome.     • Packers game: Versus the Atlanta Falcons at noon. Not televised. Check local establishments for viewing.
    • Vikings game: Versus the Baltimore Ravens at noon. Aired on FOX.
    • Euchre tourney: St. Mary's - Big River Church, W10137 570th Ave., will host an Open Euchre Tournament Fundraiser at 1 p.m., in the fellowship hall. The cost is $10 per person, 80 hands are played, you play with the same partner for all 80 hands. You must be 18 years of age to play. Call 715-425-5736 for more information.

    • Piano recital: The piano students of Barb Wall will present their annual Christmas Carol sing-a-long recital 3 p.m., in the United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 127 South Second Street.
    • Holiday Choral Concert: From 3- 4:30 p.m. at the Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts. The program will include musical selections by the UWRF Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorus, Lumina Cantorum, Men’s Chorus, and Sing-a-long. Admission charged.
    • Poetry and music tribute: River Falls poet Thomas Smith will host his second annual tribute to John Lennon and the Beatles in poetry and song at the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union St., at 7 p.m. Smith will give readings from his chapbook, “The Night We Saved the Beatles,” plus acoustic selections from the Lennon/Beatles music catalog.
    • Senior concert: UWRF student Rebecca Huth will perform his senior recital at 7:30 p.m. at Abbott Concert Hall, KFA.

    • Holiday Extravaganza: Prescott’s art gallery (a nonprofit organization) has a new theme, “Holiday Extravaganza,” for fine art and holiday gifts from now through Tuesday, Dec. 24. The gallery is also doing a charity event and collecting donations for hats, mittens and scarves to donate to the “Prescott Gift Giving Program” and the “Hastings Family Services.” The gallery is located at 122 Orange St., Prescott.
    • Holiday sale: A Gift by the Hand Holiday Sale at The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St., in Hudson, through Dec. 31

    • Holiday Chorus performance: Now in its third decade of performances, the popular chorus founded and directed by Thomas Dahle welcomes the holidays with a variety of selections to cheer hearts, brighten nights, and put all in a festive mood with concerts on at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Forty-one singers from communities throughout the St. Croix Valley make up the Festival Chorus. Heather Tank is the accompanist. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for all students.
