Friday: 

  • CD release party: For “Angels, Kings, My Favorite Things” will be held at Junior's Bar & Restaurant, 414 S Main St., from 7-10 p.m. The CD feature piano and vocals by Larry McDonough; saxophone and poetry by Richard Terrill; and guest singer Carl Warren from River Falls.     • Piano Concert: Anthony Capparelli will be the guest soloist at a special concert at 3 p.m., in the William Abbott Concert Hall, Kleinpell Fine Arts Center, on the UWRF Campus. Capparelli will perform Sonata in E flat, Op.7 by Ludwig van Beethoven and Kreisleriana, Op.16 by Robert Schumann.  Capparelli studied with Lillian Tan and Paul Wirth while a student at River Falls High School, and continued his studies with Katherine Kautsky at Lawrence Conservatory where he will graduate in 2014.     • Glasswork, pottery on view: “Historic Heat: 50 Years of Fantastic Glass from the Heartland,” a group exhibition featuring work by 28 local and regional glass artists, and “Workhorses: Pots for Everyday Use,” an exhibition of tableware, cups, jars, bowls and trays by River Falls potter S.C. Rolf, will be on view through Jan.5 in The Galleries of The Phipps Center for the Arts. Galleries hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday noon to 4:30 p.m., as well as one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters.  The Phipps will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.     • Holiday Extravaganza: Prescott’s art gallery (a nonprofit organization) has a new theme, “Holiday Extravaganza,” for fine art and holiday gifts from now through Tuesday, Dec. 24. The gallery is also doing a charity event and collecting donations for hats, mittens and scarves to donate to the “Prescott Gift Giving Program” and the “Hastings Family Services.” The gallery is located at 122 Orange St., Prescott.
    • Holiday sale: A Gift by the Hand Holiday Sale at The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St., in Hudson, through Dec. 31

    Saturday:

    • Santa Breakfast fundraiser: At Ready Randy’s Sports Bar & Grill and R&D Catering & Banquet Facility in New Richmond. Ready Randy’s will fundraise for the young and old at 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the R&D Catering & Banquet Facility. All the proceeds from the breakfast will go to Grace Place.
    • Horse drawn wagon rides: At Sidetrack Saloon in Roberts. The annual horse drawn wagon rides at Roberts Christmas on Main Street starts at 5 p.m. There will be hot drinks, snacks and stuff for the kids, as well as Santa visiting Carbone's Pizza at 6:30 p.m. Moonlight Mirage will provide live music 8 p.m. to midnight.
