This week in River Falls:

Friday:

  • Colleen Raye concert: A free community performance will be given by area singer Colleen Raye from 6-7 p.m. at Comforts of Home (assisted living facility), 2348 Aurora Circle. The outdoor patio performance is for all ages and includes free food and refreshments, plus socializing that gets started before the music at 4 p.m. Those interested can make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.   • Music in the Park: At 7 p.m. in Veterans Park. Galactic Cowboy Orchestra will perform.
  • Falls Theatre: Guardians of the Galaxy at 7 and 9:15 p.m. See a preview at www.fallstheatre.com.
  • WBA playoffs: At 7:30 p.m. the Fighting Fish will take on the Hallie Eagles at First National Bank of River Falls Field. Admission to the WBA playoffs is $3 per person, $5 for families and $1 for children five and over.
  • Library lower level: Sheltering Nature: A Project Art for Nature Artists Collaborative Exhibit. The world that gives us spiritual, emotional, medicinal, and physical shelter now needs to be protected from us through Aug. 16 in the River Falls Public Library lower level.
  • Saturday:

    • Coffee With a Cop: At River Falls Family Restaurant, River Falls. Anyone can drop by and chat with officers. 8:30 a.m.
    • Free community breakfast: River Falls United Methodist Church, 127 South 2nd St., will host a free community breakfast from 8-10 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month.
    • HOPE’s Market: HOPE Lutheran will host an outdoor market that will provide an opportunity for local artists, collectors and crafters to sell their wares from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market will have collectibles, crafts, odd ‘n’ ends, music and refreshments. It will be held in the Sterling Ponds Subdivision, Highway 35, east on County Road U. Watch for signs.
    • Falls Theatre: Guardians of the Galaxy at 2, 7 and 9:15 p.m. See a preview at www.fallstheatre.com.
    • Walk for Awareness: St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice will be hosting the fifth annual walk at 6 p.m. along White Pathway on the Kinnickinnic River in River Falls.  The walk is designed to provide support to local families and friends who have lost a loved one to a sudden, tragic, loss -- such as suicide, homicide, drug overdose, or traffic fatalities.
    • Music in the Park: At 7 p.m. in Veterans Park. The Fly Bite Girls will perform

    Sunday:

    • Summer Car Cruze-In: The River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau will host a Car Cruze-In in downtown River Falls. The show will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Classic cars, rat rods, motorcycles and other show vehicles are welcome to attend this free event. The first 100 cars will receive a commemorative dash plaque. More information at www.rfchamber.com or call 715-425-2533. 
    • WBA playoffs: Winning teams will faceoff at noon at First National Bank of River Falls Field. Admission to the WBA playoffs is $3 per person, $5 for families and $1 for children five and over.

    • Phipps Exhibit: A series of exhibitions featuring conceptual glass spaces by Amy Baur (Minneapolis), woven color studies by Morgan Clifford (Stillwater), figurative mixed media painting by Kara Hendershot (St. Paul), metal vessels by Kelly Ludeking (Decorah, Iowa), and street photography by Dick Ott (Minneapolis) will be on view through Aug. 10, in The Galleries of The Phipps Center for the Arts. Galleries hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday noon to 4:30 p.m., as well as one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters.     • Farm City Day: In St. Croix County, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Zwald Family’s Bomaz Farms in Hammond, 426 165th St. Guided farm tour, petting barnyard, exhibits, music, Schottler Dairy Milk Buds will provide wagon rides with miniature pony teams.
