Virgil White, 64

Virgil Stanley White, age 64, of Baldwin, Wis., died on June 9, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

Virgil was born in Gilman Township in Pierce County, Wis., to LeRoy and Ruby (Rice) White on June 19, 1945. When he was old enough, Virgil served in the Marine Corps with the 3rd Battalion of the 26th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division. He proudly served from 1965 to 1969 which included 4 tours to Vietnam. He was dedicated to the Corps and lived by the credo, "You've never lived 'til you've almost died. For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the protected will never know."

He is survived by his son; grandson, Christopher Michael White Jr.; brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at the Faith and Family Church in Baldwin. This will be followed by a burial with full military honors taking place at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis., at 3 p.m. Memorials are preferred.

Services are in the care of the O'Connell Family Funeral Home & Countryside Crematory - Baldwin.
