VeNila G. Fogerty, 85, died June 9, 2009, at American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.
She was born in Washburn, N.D., on Sept. 12, 1923, the daughter of Benjamin Harris and Ida Mae (Sams) Peterson.
In Stillwater, Minn., on Feb. 5, 1944, she married Darwin Fogerty and spent the next 65 years on their farm near Roberts.
As her children grew, she was active in 4-H programs and Band Mothers activities.
When her children were grown, she took on a variety of interests which included working at the Criterion and Hudson House, managing her sheep flock, doing ceramics, decorating wedding cakes, sewing lingerie, making yard ornaments, and painting with oils.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin; four sons: David (Ronnie) Fogerty of Spooner, Duane (Pat) Fogerty of Weyerhauser, Dale (Betty) Fogerty of Little Rock, Ark., and Dennis (Linda) Fogerty of Glenwood City; and her brother, Everett. She is further survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Iola Johnson and Gladys Olson; and two brothers: Stanley Peterson and Harley Peterson.
Honoring her request, there will be no public ceremony associated with her cremation.
