Kinsel had a power play goal Saturday afternoon to seal UWRF's 4-2 victory and give the Falcons a season-opening series sweep over the Bulldogs.

UWRF will continue play this weekend when they travel to NCHA opponent UW-Superior.

Last Friday night in the season opener against Adrian, Katie Batters opened the scoring with a power play goal at the 9:36 mark of the first period, assisted by Brook Story and Sam Greeley. Adrian answered 15:36 into the period on a shorthand goal to tie the score.

Gefroh gave UWRF a 2-1 lead with her first collegiate goal at the 12:09 mark of the second period, assisted by Alyssa Jackson and Dani Buehrer, but Adrian got a power play goal two minutes later to tie the score again.

Kinsel's first career goal 8:18 into the third period, assisted by Alice Cranston and Alyssa Black, gave UWRF a 3-2 lead. Less than a minute later, Batters scored what proved to be the game-winner, with an assist from Crysta Lowell.

Late in the game Falcon goalie Ashley Kuechle kept Adrian off the scoreboard on a Bulldog 5-on-3 power play, but Adrian ended up scoring a power play goal later to make the final 4-3.

Kuechle finished with 17 saves as UWRF outshot Adrian, 44-20.

In the second game of the series Saturday afternoon at Hunt Arena, Kait Mason snapped a 2-2 tie with her first goal of the season at the 12:43 mark of the third period, assisted by Gefroh, and Kinsel added an unassisted insurance goal on a Falcon power play in the final minute to lead UWRF to a 4-2 victory.

Mason had an assist on the Falcons' first goal of the game off the stick of Alyssa Jackson less than four minutes into the game. Batters had an unassisted shorthanded goal in the second period to give UWRF a brief 2-1 lead.

Freshman goalie Gillian McDonald made her first collegiate start and recorded 15 saves as the Falcons outshot the Bulldogs, 44-17.
