UW-RF holds colt sale
UW-River Falls' equine program offers about 45 horses for sale 2 p.m. Saturday at lab farm #1 (S. Wasson Lane) during its 33rd annual colt sale. It caters to people "seeking a well-bred western performance horse to add to their reining, cutting or cow-horse passion."
The sale features university-owned and trained colts, along with some privately owned. Students work to put the horses through rigorous training.
Proceeds from the sale go back into the equine program; private owners get proceeds minus training fees.
Interested buyers can preview the horses beginning 11 a.m., with lunch at 12:30 p.m.
Assistant Professor of the equine program Kris Hiney said, "The sale is fun and a good chance for students to showcase what they have done throughout the year. It is also a time for alumni and friends of the program to come back and socialize."
