UPDATE: Lunch time accident on bypass
A two car accident on the Hwy. 65/35 bypass near the Division St. exit slowed lunchtime traffic in the area Thursday, Jan. 16.
High winds causing blowing snow may have contributed to the accident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. Police directed traffic around the two cars, which both ended up facing east in the southbound lane.
One of the drivers, Kathleen Harris, 85 of Prescott, turned south onto Hwy. 65/35 from the exit ramp. The other driver, Sabine Rudolph, 22, of River Falls, was travelling southbound on Hwy. 65/35. Her vehicle hit the rear passenger side of Harris's vehicle.
River Falls Police Sgt. Matt Kennett said there did not appear to be any serious or life-threatening injuries. However, both Harris and Rudolph were injured, and taken to River Falls Area Hospital. Harris was taken by ambulance. Rudolph was taken by a private party.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Both vehicles were severely damaged. They were towed by Jerry's Towing.
River Falls Police, Fire and EMS were called to the scene.
Kennett said no citations were issued.
