EL PASO - An Elmwood man was injured Tuesday afternoon when the car he was driving entered the ditch and rolled.

Steven J. Traynor, 60, was driving his 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, eastbound on 650th Ave., when he entered the north ditch. The car continued in the ditch when it struck the guardrail near W3162 650th Ave. The accident happened at 4:34 p.m., according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Mike Vodinelich then reports after the car went through the guardrail, it rolled before coming to rest on its side. Traynor, who had his seat belt on, had to be extricated and was taken from the scene by Spring Valley Ambulance to River Falls Area Hospital with undetermined injuries.

The Sheriff's Department was also assisted by Elmwood Fire, Ellsworth Paramedic, Mayo Helicopter and Spring Valley Fire.

Vodinelich said the accident was caused by Traynor falling asleep.
