UPDATE: Because of the Academy topic, school board meeting switches to high school
River Falls Superintendent Jamie Benson said Friday that because of an expected larger turnout, the 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, regular school board meeting will switch from the central district office on East Division Street to the high school media center.
The high school library’s larger seating capacity can handle more people who wish to learn in greater detail about Gorman & Company’s bid to convert the older portions of the River Falls Academy, 211 N. Fremont St., into low-income apartments.
Company representatives will be at the school board meeting to give a presentation on development plans for the Academy.
Gorman was the only bidder for the Academy building, which now houses the Montessori and Renaissance school programs and a handful of tenants.
Gorman’s $10,000 bid for the Academy would also allow the school district to lease back the 1991 section of that building for $1 a year.
