Two injured in weekend car-motorcycle accidents

Two Pierce County men were hospitalized following separate car versus motorcycle accidents this past weekend.

On Friday evening, Jeffery Jilk, 37, River Falls, who was traveling north on County Road CC, attempted to turn his 1999 Nissan Altima into a private driveway when it was struck by a 1985 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Joseph Whirry, 38, Spring Valley, who was traveling south.

The accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. on County Road CC in front of N5271 in the Pierce County town of El Paso.

Whirry was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken by the Elmwood Ambulance Service to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire with undetermined injuries. Jilk was not injured.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Elmwood Ambulance Service and the Elmwood Fire Department.

Saturday afternoon, Craig Brenner, 50, Ellsworth was transported by River Falls Ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul after the motorcycle he was driving hit the back of a car that entered the highway ahead of him.

That accident occurred at about 2:50 p.m. on Hwy. 65 at County Road W in the town of River Falls, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the sheriff’s report, a car driven by Claire Janovec, 18, River Falls, entered the highway in front of Brenner, who was traveling north. The motorcycle hit the rear corner of the car and went airborne.

Janovec and her passenger Nicholas Sos, 18, of Hudson, were not injured.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by River Falls police and River Falls Area Fire and Ambulance.
