The nonprofit organization Unseen Angels and its anonymous volunteers started cooking early the morning of Nov. 21 at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course, with the goal of making and delivering a traditional Thanksgiving meal to 4,000 people on the Thursday holiday. Last year, the Unseen Angels delivered meals to 142 families in River Falls and to a collective total of 800 people in several counties.

Some of the raw food sat outside the kitchen waiting to be peeled, boiled, buttered and cooked. Unseen Angels procured -- literally -- more than a ton of yams and potatoes, many commerical-sized cans of corn and other food most Americans enjoy on Thanksgiving. The not-yet-assembled boxes into which volunteers will pack the food covered the entire dance floor at Kilkarney Hills.
