Town says dog owners need to pick up messes
River Falls Wisconsin 2815 Prairie Drive / P.O. Box 25 54022

The Park Board is pleased with the number of people using Glover Park for hiking, snowshoeing and sledding during winter, reported its chairwoman, Jill Berke, at the Troy Town Board meeting Jan. 10.

However, many dog owners have not been cleaning up after their pets, Berke added.

Park Ranger Ron Schock said more effort is needed to educate the public on the need to pick up dog messes on park trails, especially since not all trail users are dog owners.

Dogs must also be on a leash at all times. Schock said he tries to remind people when he sees them, but it's obvious -- judging by all the messes left in the park -- that not everyone follows the rules.

Dog cleanup bags are available in the park if an owner doesn't bring one from home.

Berke also reported a new gate and a large rock border will be installed at the Glover Park entrance this spring.

Marlo Schmidt, 354 Soo Line Road, Hudson, introduced himself to the board and said he plans to run for the open spot on the Plan Commission. The board will consider appointments for the Plan Commission next month.

The board granted a Class B Temporary Retailer's License to Andrea Jorgenson of the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau for its 60th annual awards banquet Jan. 22 at YMCA Camp St. Croix.

The board approved the town's insurance policy with Rural Insurance for $10,592, which is a savings of $967 from last year.

Board members decided to move forward with the St. Croix County Highway Department's estimates of the milling and overlaying of Townsvalley Road for $107,000 and Chinnock Lane for $138,000. Work begins this summer.

Mobile home court licenses were approved for Raymond and Eloise Anding of Troy Glen Court, LLC, 674 Coulee Trail, Hudson; and Mike Hilbelink, of Hilltop Partnership, LLC, 530 County Road M, River Falls.

The board approved this year's animal Humane Society contract, which does not include the removal of feral cats.
