Todd I. Stedtfeld, age 61, of River Falls, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1947, in Fresno, Calif., to Robert and Ellen (Wilson) Hontani.
Todd graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, and went on to start his own law firm, Stedtfeld Law, in Woodbury, Minn.
For almost 30 years, Todd has been married to his beloved wife, Mary Ellen (nee Wieland).
Together, with some friends, they founded Citizens for the Preservation of the St. Croix (CPSC). He was also a member of the Sierra Club and enjoyed fishing. He was an exceptional wood worker; no details were missed in his handmade cabinets.
Todd is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Alexandra (Craig) Crutchfield of Tulsa, Okla.; grandson, Chance Crutchfield; mother and stepfather, Ellen and Mervin Stedtfeld; brothers, Dean Stedtfeld and Terry (Wendy) Stedtfeld; sister, Tracey (Steven) Barach; mother-in-law, Joan Wieland; extended family; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hontani and father-in-law, E. C. Wieland.
A memorial service for Todd will be held at 3 p.m. with a visitation from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725.
