Thousands apply for new jobs making military vehicles at the Oshkosh Corp.
People as far away as Milwaukee have applied for the hundreds of new jobs being added by a new military contract at the Oshkosh Corp.
Up to 1,500 applicants turned out for a job fair Monday in Oshkosh, and the company reported a similar turnout on Sunday.
It was chosen to build a new, stronger type of military vehicle for the war in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon is allocating more than $1 billion now for the new vehicle, and more is expected in the future.
Oshkosh has not said how many more jobs it might create.
The firm has more than 2,200 employees in Oshkosh, and another 10,000 throughout the world.
