Teachers vote "yes" for contract
River Falls School District teachers this week agreed to a new one-year contract. If approved by the school board in a special meeting Monday night, the contract terms become effective immediately. Under those terms, a beginning teacher would make $34,763 a year; the most experienced teacher with a master's plus 29 credits would make $65,381.
School District Personnel Director Donna Hill said that unlike past contracts, the new one is good only for the 2009-10 school year that starts Sept. 1.
The new contract calls for a 3.11% hike - 2.4% going to salaries and .71% for benefits.
Negotiations for the contract started in May. Almost 225 teachers will be affected.
