U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told a Catholic lawyers' group in Green Bay Oct. 28 that people-of-laws can also be people-of-faith.

Scalia said Christians have historically been ridiculed and sometimes killed because of their faith. But he cited several points of reference to prove that a person can be sophisticated and still believe in God.

Scalia spoke at the inaugural meeting of the Saint Thomas More Lawyers' Society in the Green Bay Catholic Diocese. The group seeks to improve ethical standards for lawyers, and create a deeper understanding of God as the source of human rights.

Justice Scalia also took part in Green Bay's annual "Red Mass," a Catholic service for legal and government workers. And Bishop David Ricken said Scalia also took a little time for duck hunting.
