Some true grit should liven the dancing
The Twin Cities acoustic string band, Gritpickers, will play in River Falls on Saturday, Jan. 18. The appearance, sponsored by the local Community Arts Base and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, is part of 2013-14 Saturday Night Barn Dance series.
The barn dance is held at the River Falls Academy, corner of Maple and Fremont streets, from 7-10 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for 12 and under. Inexpensive refreshments are available.
The Gritpickers’ dynamic lineup includes two country fiddlers. The dance features a variety of line and circle dances, reels, waltzes, and square dances.
No experience is needed to participate. An experienced caller will teach steps to new and more seasoned dancers.
All ages are welcome, singles, couples, and groups.
