Soccer stil in hunt in BRC; Kickin' Cancer game May 15
The Wildcat girls' soccer team stayed hot on the heels of Big Rivers Conference leader Eau Claire Memorial with a 5-0 victory over Rice Lake in its first home game of the season May 3 at Wildcat Feld.
The win kept the Cats one point behind the Old Abes in the BRC standings with a record of 5-1-1 (6-3-1 overall). Memorial, who handed River Falls its only BRC loss of the season, 3-0, on April 24, leads the conference at 6-0-0.
Kickin' Cancer game
Tuesday, May 15, the Wildcats will host their second annual Kickin' Cancer game against Hudson. Both teams will wear commemorative jerseys in honor of people who are battling, or who have battled, breast cancer, and a special ceremony at halftime will honor those who have fought or been lost to the disease.
The Cats will raffle off fleece tie blankets the players made last week and game balls, and are still accepting other donations, such as gift cards, that will be raffled off. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society through the local Relay For Life.
"If there are any more people who would like to be at the game and have River Falls and Hudson soccer girls honor them at halftime they can send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org," Conley said. "If any individuals or businesses would like to donate items, or donate money to the overall total, they can do so at the game or shoot me an email. This is certainly for a great cause, and we are excited to be hosting it again for the second season and we hope that it is something that we can continue to do yearly."
