Shawn M. McIntyre, age 39, of Baldwin, died as a result of cancer Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Shawn was born on Oct. 23, 1970, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Gary L. and Susan (Bygd) McIntyre. She attended Greenwood Elementary School in River Falls prior to graduating from the Baldwin High School. She furthered her education with an associate degree in hotel, motel, and restaurant management. Over the years, she became proficient in the development and management of commercial property. She would be married to Jahan Culbreath of Ohio prior to this union dissolving.

Shawn had a great respect for life and her body. She loved running any chance she got and took great pride in her workouts. Even with her chemo therapies, her ten mile run was a priority. She enjoyed shopping, especially with her nieces. Another favorite pastime that gave her the utmost pleasure was taking her "boxer" dogs, Max and Bella, for a scenic walk near the Apple or St. Croix River. Her never ending smile and upbeat look on life was infectious and filled a room. Her spirit will forever be among us.

Shawn is survived by her parents, Gary (Sandie) McIntyre of Baldwin, Susan (David Zwolenski) Bygd of Deer Park; siblings, Shannon McIntyre of Hudson, Shane McIntyre of Connorsville; stepsiblings, Tammi Hovde of Baldwin, Bob Anfang Jr. of Hudson, Tony (Melinda) Zwolenski of River Falls, Kimberly Cardenas of New Richmond, Dane (Rockelle) Haight of New York, Josh (Jennifer) Haight of Germany; nieces and nephews, Nik, Kassi, Meghan, Brendan, Thaber, Kaitlyn, Winter, David, Nathan, Stacy, Sherith, Sarah and Russel; also by other family, many dear friends, and beloved dogs, Max and Bella.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and stepbrother, David Anfang.

A time to reflect and celebrate the life of Shawn McIntyre will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
