"Second Saturday" barn dance series begins
Western Wisconsin's own old-time string band, Rush River Ramblers, will play River Falls "Second Saturday" dance series in the gym of the River Falls Academy (the former Meyer Middle School) on West Maple Street in River Falls on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 7-10 p.m.
This well-known local band features members from Spring Valley and Martell.
Sue West, also a member of the popular Kinni Song Sisters and an outstanding songwriter, plays guitar for the Ramblers.
No prior experience is necessary. A caller provides instructions for newcomers and experienced dancers alike. Partners are not required.
Children are especially encouraged to attend the opening family dance segment from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Remaining dances in the winter/spring 2009-10 series are: Barn Cats, March 20; Poor Benny, April 10. All are held on the second Saturday of the month except for the March dance, which falls on the third Saturday.
The barn dance is a joint project of River Falls Community Arts Base, River
Falls Parks and Recreation, and Whole Earth Grocery. Admission is $5 for
adults and $2.50 for 12 and under. Inexpensive refreshments are available at the dance.
