School district has new academic director
Jennifer J. Peterson, a former principal and curriculum director in Spooner, was hired last week to become academic services director for the River Falls School District. She replaces Mike Johnson who took a job in Minnesota.
The selection of Peterson came during a special school board meeting Friday, June 27. There were a total of 13 applicants. Peterson’s annual pay will be $114,404.
Peterson, who will start her new job July 1, has been Spooner High School principal and that district’s curriculum director since July 2012.
Before that she was an assistant principal and curriculum/instruction coordinator at Sunrise Mountain High School in Las Vegas.
Peterson has also been a math and instructional technology director for the Nevada Clark County School District. From 1994-97, she was a math teacher at Hudson High School.
River Falls School Superintendent Jamie Benson said Peterson is a “very good fit” for the district because of her experience and ability to lead and build strong relationships.
She has a master of arts in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University; a master of arts in teaching from Grand Canyon University; and a bachelor’s in math from Evangel University.
