Selmer "Sam" Leehe, age 67, of Amery, Wis., died Monday, May 20, at Veteran's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
Sam was born Nov. 8, 1945, the son of Lyle and Clarice "Toots" Leehe at Baldwin, Wis. He was baptized and confirmed at Wilson Lutheran Church. Sam attended Spring Valley Schools graduating with the class of 1963. On Oct. 10, 1964, he married Janet Madson at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.
In 1967, Sam was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for a year during the Vietnam War. He received two Purple Hearts and the Army Commendation Medal "V" Device for participating in acts of heroism.
Sam worked as a quality supervisor for Kolpak in River Falls for 36-1/2 years. He and Janet moved to Tennessee from 2000 until 2010, where he worked at Kysor Panel Systems in Blountville.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Amery; son, Brent Leehe of Duluth; daughter, Kris Leehe-Dodge of Amery; his mother Clarice "Toots" Leehe of Spring Valley; six grandchildren, Cody, Caileea, and Brendan Leehe, and Sawyer, Owen, and Maren Dodge; brother, Lyle "Bud" Leehe of Danbury, Wis., and sister, Linda (Dean) Rambo of Spring Valley; sister-in-law, Carol (Bill) Rice of Ham Lake, Minn.; brother-in-law, Larry (Dianne) Madson of Spring Valley.
Memorial funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Gilman Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, with Pastor Keith Ruehlow officiating. Visitation is Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis.
