Rydeen runs to third at WIAC meet
Katie Rydeen of Osceola posted a career-best time of 22 minutes, 31 seconds, to finish third at the WIAC Cross Country Championships Saturday at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.
Rydeen's 6,000 meter time is the fourth fastest in UW-River Falls history and earned her a spot on the All-WIAC first team.
Kaylee Nelson of Knapp was the second Falcon across the finish line, in 50th place overall, with a time of 24:29.
UW-Eau Claire took the team title with 41 points while the Falcons scored 186. UW-Oshkosh's Christy Cazzola won the race with a time of 21:27.
In the men's race, Jessop Keene of Prescott led the Falcons with a career-best time of 25:46, finishing 23rd overall. Mohamed Mohamed was right behind in 25th place with a time of 25:51, also a career best.
UW-Oshkosh won the men's team title with 51 points while the Falcons scored 171. UW-Stout's Tim Nelson won the individual title with a time of 24:41 over the 8,000-meter course.
The Falcons will next run in the NCAA Midwest Regional Saturday in Rock Island, Ill.
